We all need some stress in our lives in order to function as human beings. Unfortunately two thirds of the population (66%) suffer levels of stress that can overwhelm our systems. Under a quarter of these people seek professional advice and help. Whenever the body is seriously threatened we respond with a ‘fight or flight’ mechanism. This mechanism is designed to keep us alive and is only there for immediate response to events such as being attacked, and is a remnant from our days as hunter-gatherers. If we do not respond then our bodies have to find another way of dealing with the chemicals and hormones it has created. These may present themselves as High Blood Pressure, Stomach / Intestinal conditions, Skin problems, Hair Loss, Muscle Tension, Anxiety, Palpitations, Panic Attacks, Insomnia and Loss of Libido amongst others.
We tend to ‘keep a stiff upper lip’ and not admit hat we are having problems coping with this stress where even the act of talking about it would produce some level of relief.
Hypnotherapy is recognised a one of many methods of helping deal with stress and in some cases turn it to your advantage.
